Frank Carr is Managing Partner and Founder of Centennial Advisory Group LLC and a specialist in recruiting for the investment management industry with particular expertise in the hedge fund industry. Prior to forming Centennial, Frank was a Managing Director of Diversified Search, Inc. and head of the firm’s New York-based hedge fund practice. Frank had previously been a Managing Director in the Global Asset Management practice at A.T. Kearney Executive Search, a top 10 U.S. search firm. He began his search career at LAI Ward Howell which was later acquired by TMP Worldwide (owners of Monster.com). Frank’s recruiting experience covers most aspects of investment management and his clients range from hedge fund managers and fund of funds organizations to institutional money managers and insurance companies. 

 

Frank has authored several articles for HedgeWorld, The MFA Reporter, FINalternatives.com and Hedge Fund Magazine, and he has been frequently quoted in publications such as Absolute Return, Hedge Fund Alert, HedgeWorld and Hedge Fund Manager Week. He has also served as both a moderator and panelist at numerous conferences and events sponsored by The Managed Funds Association, EuroMoney, InfoVest21, Columbia Business School, and CAIA, the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association. Frank is a member of the Mid Atlantic Hedge Fund Association and the Hedge Fund Business Operations Association.

 

Prior to entering executive search, Frank was Chief Financial Officer of a Connecticut-based hedge fund. He managed the accounting and compliance functions as well as the registration, offering and sales process for the firm’s investment units. He has hands on experience in the registration and offering of securities through both the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.  Frank had spent eight years in commercial bank lending, initially with Citibank in their Wall Street Commodities division, and had previously held NASD licenses, Series 3, 6 and 63. He is a graduate of Williams College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Economy. Frank is a former national class marathon runner and an avid bass guitarist. He also serves as the Master of Ceremonies of the annual “Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest” in New York City to benefit A Leg to Stand On (www.altso.org).

Barbara Carr
is responsible for all internal and external business affairs. Barbara began her career at the NYC law firm of Weil, Gotshal and Manges as a legal assistant and recruiter for attorneys before joining Bankers Trust Company’s Wall Street office as a Cash Management Analyst. Several years later, she started her own fitness company that serviced Fortune 100 companies in the New York area. She then joined Oxford Health Plans where she managed a department and designed health promotion/disease management programs for thousands of its members and participated in research studies. She continued her health promotion work as a Consultant for hospitals, corporations and physicians. Recently, she spent two years in the non-profit sector as Associate Director of Development at the YWCA of Greenwich, where she significantly increased the assets raised for the organization.  She brings her knowledge of running a business and staff along with her creativity and diligence to the search industry. A graduate of Wellesley College with Honors, Barbara earned her Masters degree in Health Science/ Exercise Physiology from Long Island University. She studied law at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland as a Rotary International Fellow, and at Fordham Law School.  She is married to Frank Carr, Managing Partner.

Prior to founding Abert Associates, LLC in 2004, Janice had been a Managing Director in the New York office of Warren International and a Partner at TMP Worldwide. She began her 14 year recruiting career in 1996, joining Johnson, Smith & Knisely as the Head of their Asset Management Sales Practice.  Janice has always specialized in recruiting asset management distribution professionals.  The focus of her practice is distribution to the Defined Benefit market place: Investor Relations, Institutional Marketers, Consultant Relationship Managers, Client Relationship Managers and Marketing Communications professionals.  Prior to her career in search, Janice spent over eight years in sales and marketing positions at PaineWebber. She first joined PaineWebber as a Mutual Fund Marketing Manager for their proprietary funds managed by Mitchell Hutchins Asset Management.  She then spent four years in a Wholesaling position as the VP, Retirement Plan Consultant for PaineWebber?s Northeast Division.  Subsequently, Janice was promoted to lead the group as the Corporate VP, National Sales Manager, Retirement Plans, and managed 13 Retirement Plan Consultants who sold both PaineWebber proprietary and non-proprietary mutual fund, insurance, trust and asset management products.  In this position, she established very strong relationships with senior Sales and Marketing Heads in the mutual fund, asset management and retirement industry.  Janice holds a BA from Mount Holyoke College.
